Hello Everyone,

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!  What an end to 2011!  The weather has been unbelievable.  If the lakes were still open, it would be much like springtime skiing.  I’m sure for the snowmobilers and snow skiers it has not been the weather you had hoped for but I’m sure we will not escape the snow for the entire season.  Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Santa brought that new ski you have been dreaming of.

With the start of the New Year, it’s time to get focused for the upcoming season and many of the different programs that MWSA sponsors.  As most of you know, MWSA sponsors a number of tournaments, Junior Development , and Ski Nights which have been a big hit and very successful.  These events are a great way to get involved and are very rewarding.  We are always in need of more volunteers.

Mike & Susie Schipper are heading up our Junior Development program again this year and with multiple sites, there is always a need for help and probably a location that is convenient for you.  Mike can be contacted at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Ski Nights will be looking for new sites and volunteers again this year.  If you’re able to help, please let me know.  It would be nice if we had the sites and dates set up by March so that we can start getting flyers out by April.  I am the contact for Ski Nights and can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The tournament schedule has been tentatively set, our tournament directors are in place, and the sanctions have been submitted.  Also, Minnesota will be hosting Regional’s once again this year. Keep an eye for future meeting times.  There will be plenty of opportunity to volunteer if you are able.

And remember, the association meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of the month in Maple Grove and everyone is invited and more than welcome.  Come check it out!

Best Wishes for a GREAT New Year,

Chris Kosek
